Why active seniors? Because that is who I am.
As an active senior I've noticed that myself, my husband, and our friends are now traveling in a different way. We're no longer are looking for the nightlife, the "best" restaurants, and rushing from place to place on our vacations. Instead we are longing for a more in depth immersive experience where we gain a better understanding of the places we visit...the local culture, the natural surroundings, the food....and we still want adventure! Hiking, biking, snorkeling, walking, learning, meeting people from different cultures, and experiencing some of the most amazing places on earth!
Too many places to list....but the top of my list is Cambodia, Bali, the inland passage of Alaska.
And #1 on my list is being with the whales and their babies in the lagoons off the coast of Baja California where the gray whales come all the way from Alaska each year to give birth.
Scheduled for March 2028!
What's on your list?
This is a tough one but the first trip that come to mind is the trip my girls and I took for my 50th birthday.
In 2006 my two daughters (then ages 14 and 18) went on safari in Kenya...a life changing trip for all of us.
What has been your favorite trip?
I have to admit, I LOVE a roadtrip...being able to stop anywhere, seeing the world as it passes by, especially when there is no set schedule and we can change our minds when something new and interesting pops up :)
But that's not always practical to see some of the parts of the world I want to see. So my next favorite ways to travel would be trains, small ships (100 passengers or less) and river cruises.
How do you like to travel?
My husband and I are great travel buddies...thankfully! I love to travel with my kids, but now that they are busy adults we don't get to travel together as often.
I prefer to travel with easy going "go with the flow" folks who like to have fun, because we all know that travel can be stressful and exhausting at times, and making the best of any moment make sit so much better :)
Who do you like to travel with? Friends? Family? Maybe people from your church, clubs you belong to, or your community? With the right group of people group travel can be amazing!
